Ernest Robert “Bob” Brown, age 71 of Connersville, passed away Thursday, May 10, 2012 at Reid Hospital in Richmond.

Born on September 23, 1940 in Connersville, he is the son of the late Finley Allen and Lois Mae Cushing Brown George.

He graduated in 1960 from Connersville High School. Bob served in the US Navy aboard the USS Saratoga from 1960 thru 1964.

He was a member of the Fayette County Senior Center and a member of the Connersville Baptist Temple.

He was manager at the local Woolworth’s and JC Penney stores and worked in furnace and air conditioning installation and repair at Triangle Sheet Metal & Heating and at Brown’s Heating and Cooling.

He enjoyed yard work and taking care of his home.

Bob is survived by his wife, Phyllis J. Garrison Brown, who he married on October 30, 1964 at Calvary Baptist Church in Connersville; two sons, Robert Duane Brown of Connersville and Mark Allen & Lara Brown of Huber Heights, OH; two brothers, Richard Allen & Roberta Brown of Connersville and Stephen Allen Brown of Indianapolis, IN; a sister, Jackie Sue George Church and her husband, Kenneth of Connersville; three grandchildren, Cory Allen Brown, Katelynn Marie Brown and Joshua Duane Brown; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his stepfather, Carl George and his beloved dog, Sculley.

Graveside services will be conducted at Dale Cemetery on Monday May 14, 2012 at 2:00 pm with Rev. George Nester of Connersville Baptist Temple officiating.

Military services will be provided by the Fayette County Veterans Council.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Arthritis Foundation or the charity of your choice.
