Franklin Ray Kibbey

U.S. Veteran

Rev. Franklin Ray Kibbey, age 77, of Connersville, passed away on Wednesday morning July 10, 2013 at Reid Hospital.

Born in English, West Virginia on August 19, 1935, he is the son of the late John W. and Bertha Viars Kibbey.

Franklin served in the US Army from November 1958 until April 1962 as a Radio Operator and Morse Code Operator.

He was a member of the Community Gospel Church. He also enjoyed playing pool at the Senior Center.

He had worked in several factories in Connersville, including D & M and WCI and had also worked for the United States Postal Service in Utah, Colorado and Kansas.

Franklin and his family lived in several locations while he pastored at many churches. He is a former Pastor of the Church of God in Connersville. He and his wife Kathryn cared for many foster children and children from the Knightstown Children's Home.

He is survived by his daughters, Maria (Ronald) Sieber of Connersville and Stephanie (Thomas) Greeley of Tucson, AZ; three brothers, Rev. John W. (Lanae) Kibbey of Welch, WV, Roger Kibbey, of WV, and Leslie (Gladys) Kibbey of Dublin, IN; four sisters, Eloise Whichard of NC, Gloria (David) Miller of Laplata, MD, Violet (Arlie Joe) Walsh and Vickie (Glen) Murphy of WV; three grandchildren, Desiree (Jared) Glaub, Chelsea (Devin) Hawkins and Ronna Sieber; three great grandchildren, Taegan and Kyndal Glaub and Trevor Hawkins; as well as many nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife, Kathryn Colley Kibbey whom he married on October 26, 1953 in Liberty, IN and she passed away on June 23, 2007. He is also preceded by an infant daughter, Amber Dawn Kibbey; and two brothers, Donald and Larry Kibbey.

Funeral services will be conducted at the Community Gospel Church on Saturday July 13, 2013 at 10:00 am.

Burial with graveside military services will follow at Lick Creek Cemetery.

Friends and family may visit on Friday evening from 4 pm to 8 pm at Urban Winkler Funeral Home.
