Jean D. Russell

Died: January 24, 2013

Jean D. Russell, age 77, of Connersville, passed away on Thursday January 24, 2013 in Reid Hospital. She had been in declining health the past two years.

Born on February 16, 1935 in Richmond, Kentucky, she is the daughter of the late Robert B. and Lelia J. Payne Cunliffe. She was one of four children.

She worked at Cox's Market for 33 years in the Meat Department. After retiring from there, she worked as a Lunch Aide at Connersville Senior High for several years until her health would not permit her to work in that capacity.

She enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Jean was a member of the Community Gospel Church.

She is survived by her husband of 62 years, Alvis Russell, whom she married on December 21, 1951; two sons, Franklin B. Russell and his wife Phyllis of Connersville and Alan D. Russell and his wife Sheila of Brookville, IN; three grandsons, Michael A. Horning and wife Jennifer, Bradley G. Horning, and Jared B. Russell; and four granddaughters, Jama L. Russell Baucom, Kisha Jackson and her husband Kyle, Tylor B. Russell and Katie Russell.

Step grandchildren, Jason G. Moore and his wife Nicole, Melissa Abrams and her husband John; nineteen great grandchildren and one great-great grandson.

She is also survived by a brother, Ronald B. Cunliffe of Richmond, KY; two sisters, Devona "Twinkle" Flannery and husband Milton of Richmond, KY and Brenda K. Tate and husband Raymond of Waco, Kentucky; as well as a large number of nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by a daughter, Jane Russell Harmon.

Funeral services will be conducted at Urban Winkler Funeral Home on Tuesday January 29, 2013 at 11:00 am with Rev. Robert E. Lee and Rev. David Pinter officiating.

Burial will follow at Dale Cemetery.

Friends and family may visit at the funeral home on Monday evening from 4-8 pm.
