Coffey
Oct 26, 1967 — Dec 3, 2023
Christopher Gene Coffey was born 26 October 1967 in Hamilton, Butler County, Ohio. Christopher went peacefully to the Summerland 3 December 2023 in the kind care of Hospice at Reid Memorial Hospital.
Christopher began his life as Diccon Lattimer. His biological mother was Patricia. DNA testing revealed that his father was Robert O. Baker, a musician around Middletown, Ohio. At the age of six months Chris was adopted by his parents Donald Gene and Arlene Coffey of College Corner, Ohio.
Chris lived in College Corner until, while still in elementary school, his Dad built a new house on Turkey Creek Road in Union County. This was his home until he became an adult.
Chris married his best friend and love of his life, Karen Ann Barlow 17 March 1991. They share an unbreakable bond that still endures.
Chris enjoyed music, especially Blondie and Olivia Newton John. He knew every ABBA song by heart and belted them out joyfully.
Chris was active in Union County High School Show choir and musicals. He was an avid fan of The Rocky Horror Picture Show, knew ALL the audience responses and most of the script. Chris could recite the entire history of most DC comic characters from their first appearance on, and every story plot. He was an avid Godzilla fan and owned every movie in both English and Japanese. He enjoyed every minute of bad "B" rated horror movies which went hand in hand with his love of Halloween.
He worked for years in the food industry and enjoyed cooking.
When Chris was diagnosed with bi-polar disorder he had to leave worklife. This led him to find a love of crafting. Making jewelry became a nice small business for him and even a couple weeks before his passing, he was making jewelry.
Chris leaves behind his wife of 32 years, Karen. His mother Arlene (Smalley); sisters Natalie (Tony) Brock, Clarissa (Brian) Caudill, a brother Shane Coffey also several nieces and nephews. He also leaves four half siblings from his biological mother and two from his biological father.
Chris will be greatly missed by a very close and special family friend, Amanda Patterson and her son Chel who is spreading Uncle Chris' Godzilla addiction to the next generation.
And lastly, the most important member of the household, his dog Tessie. She misses her Daddy.
Chris was preceded in death by his father, Donald Gene Coffey, his grandparents, Harold and Naomi Smalley, and Robert and Gladys Katherine Coffey. Also departed are both birth parents.
Chris will be cremated, and his ashes returned to his wife. There will be no services at this time, however a celebration of his life will be planned for friends and family at the family's convenience.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Chris's name may be made to the Union County Public Library 2 East Seminary, Liberty IN 47353. Please mark that it is to ENHANCE their Graphic Novels and Fantasy books.
