Deborah Sue Allen, passed away on December 22, 2023, at Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis at the age of 72.  Deborah was born in Richmond, Indiana on June 1, 1951, the daughter of the late Ernest Chasteen, Sr., and Opal Hall Chasteen Whitehead.

She was united in marriage on July 1, 1967, in Connersville to Charles W. Allen Sr.  They shared 51 years together prior to his death in 2018.  They were blessed with three sons.

She was a long-time member of the American Legion Auxiliary, Unit 1.  Deborah was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother that also worked at Philco, Long John Silvers, Manager at Snowman and B & C Video and at Walmart for a short time.  She was involved with the operation of the American Legion Bingo in one capacity or another for over 40 years.  She had the ability to bring joy and laughter to all and was often known as the "life of the party".  Her most valued treasure was the time she spent with her family, grandchildren and her dogs.

Those she left behind to cherish her love and memory include her sons, Charles (Gloria) Allen, Jr., Kellis (Missy) Allen, and Tim (Missi) Allen; siblings, Paul (Pat) Chasteen, Sr., Ernest (Michelle) Chasteen, Jr., and Judy Owens.  She will be thought of often by her 15 grandchildren and many great grandchildren.

Besides her parents and husband, she is preceded in death by a brother, Talt Dwayne Chasteen and a sister Darla Firth.

Friends and family may gather on Thursday evening December 28, 2023, at Urban Winkler Funeral Home, from 5:00 to 8:00 pm.  Funeral services will be held on Friday, December 29, 2023, at 12:00 noon.  Deborah will be laid to rest next to her husband at Lick Creek Cemetery.
