Delmer Robert
"Bob" Cavins
Oct 9, 1940 — Sep 1, 2026
Delmer Robert "Bob" Cavins, 85, of Connersville, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on Tuesday, September 1, 2026. He was one of four children born to the late Emery and Maggie (Hunter) Cavins in McKee, Kentucky on October 9, 1940.
On a beautiful spring day, May 14, 1960, Bob married the love of his life Sharon Blakely. Rev. Leonard Westerfield and their families witnessed their commitment to one another. They shared 66 years of wedded bliss prior to Bob's passing. The Cavins' were blessed with two sons.
Bob was a person who never met a stranger and continuously strived for success. His journey began in 1966 when he opened Bob's Auto Sales in Connersville with only one car on the lot. That same car lot would go on to grow into Coach Line Vans in the early 1970s where he began building conversion vans and shipping them throughout the country. Bob built countless vehicles still on the road today. After 20 years, Coach Line Vans converted to Coach Line Motors where he returned to auto sales alongside his sons. In 1991, he built Cherry Hill Park shopping center. Shortly after, Bob and Sharon opened Side Pocket arcade and billiards.
Bob's success was attributed to his desire to be the best he could be no matter the task/game in front of him. Becoming a very good pool player, Bob competed in several professional billiards tournaments. He also won several corn hole tournaments throughout the area. Alongside his brother, Coy, Bob had decades of successful drag racing breaking 17 National World records.
When Bob wasn't working or drag racing, his favorite time of the year was going to Tennessee, especially in September, for car shows with his wife, Sharon , and sister, Shirley.
Bob will be greatly missed by his wife, Sharon; son, Chris (Terri) Cavins; 4 Grandchildren, Sonia (Brian) Davison, Ashlee (Brandon) Hobbs, Kerstin (Tyler) Russell, and Karley (Cameron) Rowe; 8 great grandchildren; 2 great-great grandchildren; brother, Coy (Doris) Cavins; two sisters, Shirley Isaacs and Anna Tankersley; a brother-in-law, James Bunzendahl; as well as several nieces and nephews.
Along with his parents, Bob was preceded in death by a son, Robert "Robbie" Cavins Jr.; sisters, Zola Bunzendahl, Lola Cavins, and Sue Cavins; and a brother, Billy Cavins.
Visitation for Bob will be held on Friday, September 4, 2026 from 11:00am until 2:00pm at Urban Winkler Funeral Home, 513 W 8th St. Connersville, IN 47331. A funeral service officiated by Pastor Ronnie Russell, Pastor Bob Lee, and Pastor Jon Burch will immediately follow at the funeral home. Graveside services will be held in Lick Creek Cemetery.
