Donald Dale Burke, age 74, of Connersville, passed away suddenly on April 17, 2023, at his home.  Donald was born on November 8, 1948, in Wheelwright, Kentucky, the son of the late Hassel and Mildred Mosley Burke.

Donald graduated from Floyd Central High School in Kentucky in 1968.  After graduation he attended Mayo State Vocational School in Paintsville, Kentucky for an education in electricity.  Donald then moved to Connersville in 1970 and began working at Metal Plating where was employed for 30 years.

On June 9, 1973, he married his wife, Ruby Lynch Burke, at Western Avenue Baptist Church.  They would have been married 50 years this June.  Together they raised two children:  a son, Gregory (Rachel) Burke and a daughter, Jennifer Fox.

He was a loving Papaw to his five grandchildren: Kelly Austin (Myriah) Dawson of Connersville, Kaitlyn (Ryan) Neuman of Rushville, Matthew (Shyrayne) Burke of Connersville, Clark Mains of Connersville and Adam Fox of Connersville.  He was a loving Poppy to his six great grandchildren:  Allie, Benjamin, Ava and Annie Neuman of Rushville and Liam and Landon Dawson of Connersville.  He was also a caring pet owner to his dog Gunner.

Donald enjoyed fishing with his brother and his neighbors, treasure hunting, planting tomatoes and sunflowers, frying chicken and catfish, cracking walnuts, listening to Connersville ball games on the radio and spending time with his family.

Donald is survived by his wife, his children, his grandchildren, and his great grandchildren, two brothers: Danny (Rose) Burke of Connersville, and Billy (Pat) Burke of Auxier, KY and sisters: Joyce Holbrook of Laurel, and Fayetta (Tivis) Caudill of Wheelwright, KY and several nieces and nephews.

Donald is preceded in death by his parents, two brothers: Charles Burke and wife Patricia and Gordon Burke and wife Joyce and one sister: Barbara Sue Johnson and husband Homer; three nephews:  Timothy Holbrook, Christopher Burke and Brent Burke, and a brother-in-law, Zee Holbrook.

Funeral services will be held at Urban Winkler Funeral Home, 513 W 8 ^th Street, Connersville, on Friday April 21, 2023, at 1:00 pm with Reverend Robert E. Lee officiating.  Friends may gather with the family from 11:00 am until the time of the service.  Burial will follow at Lick Creek Cemetery.

Memorial contributions can be made to Riley Children's Hospital in honor of his grandson, Adam Fox.
