Obituary

As our earthly hearts are broken and we are missing him so much already, our Godly hearts know he is no longer in pain.  Donald Thomas passed away on Friday March 21, 2025, with his loving family by his side at the age of 64.  Donald was born in Fort Smith, Arkansas on June 27, 1960, the son of Shirley Martin Thomas and the late Donald A. Thomas.

In Fayetteville, Arkansas on July 16, 1983, he was united in marriage to the former Tamera Newell.  They shared 41 years of marriage prior to his death and were blessed with two children.

Donald started preaching at the age of 13.  Don has spent his life in ministry to others and accepted the Lead Pastor position at Connersville Living Waters in November of 2013. Don has two master's degrees: an MBA from Indiana University Kelley School of Business and an MA in Ministry from Indiana Wesleyan University.  He was also a financial advisor for Edward Jones.

He loved to play racquetball and chess, watching John Wayne movies, reading, and studying the Word of God.  He also enjoyed a spirited arm-wrestling match.  His most valued treasures were the times he spent with his family, especially his grandchildren.

Donald's love and memories will be cherished by his mother, Shirley; wife Tamera; children, Stephanie (Justin) Pile and Brandon (Morgan) Thomas; grandchildren, Brynnley, Lily and Bryce; brothers, Darryl (Lupe) Thomas, Mike (Teresa) Thomas and Shannon Thomas, as well as nieces and nephews.

A Celebration of Life will take place at Connersville Living Waters on Saturday March 29th at 11:00 am.  Urban Winkler Funeral Home is honored to assist the family with Donald's arrangements.
