Doris R. Hall began her eternal journey with her Lord and Savior on Thursday October 1, 2026, at Reid Health in Richmond at the age of 96. Doris was born on March 24, 1930, in Garrard County Kentucky, one of eight children born to William D. and Provie (Brewer) Steele.
On April 3, 1948, she was united in marriage to Forrest H. Hall, Jr. in Connersville, IN. They shared 56 years of marriage prior to his passing in 2004. Together they created a loving family with five children.
Doris was a member of the Western Avenue Baptist Church for over 70 years, where she was very active until her health started to decline. She was the Director of the WMU, sang in the choir, on the kitchen committee and a Sunday school teacher to name a few.
She was a devoted daughter, wife, mother and grandmother that enjoyed crossword puzzle books, crocheting, watching Wheel of Fortune and The Price is Right, and a great cook. She loved gardening. She was known for her green thumb and could make anything grow. Doris cherished every moment she spent with those that she loved.
Her love and memories will be held close to the hearts of her children, Donna (Mike) Winkle, Anita Plummer, and Brian Hall; siblings, Joseph Steele, Sara Steele, Helen Friend, Judy Moody and Lillian Humphrey; grandchildren, Scott Hall, Craig Hall, Steve McQueen, Josh McQueen, David Carr, Jessica Hall, Benji Hall and Tabatha Hall, as well as several great grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husband, she is preceded in death by a daughter, Teresa Carr; son Johnie Hall; brothers, Alpheus Steele and Earl Steele; and a grandson, Jesse Carr.
Family and friends may gather at Urban Winkler Funeral Home, 513 W 8th Street, Connersville on Thursday, October 8, 2026, from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm. Funeral services will be conducted by Jay Rowe at 1:00 pm. Doris will be laid to rest at Everton Cemetery.
