Elsie Lathery, 81 of Connersville went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, December 6, 2023. She was born on August 7, 1942 in Fayette County to Shelby Powell and Doratha Brown Powell.

On May 21, 1981 she married the love of her life, Roy Lathery. Together they enjoyed going camping and square dancing.

Elsie was a faithful member of Community Gospel Church in Connersville.

For 30 years, Elsie worked at Visteon before retiring in 1998.

You could often find Elsie in the kitchen cooking and feeding her children, grandchildren, and friends. She loved to cook a great meal for them all to enjoy. She also enjoyed being involved in the Car Clubs in the community. Most importantly she cherished her family and the time she was able to spend with them.

Along with her husband of 42 years, Roy; she is survived by her daughters, Debbie (Bob) Mueller, Tracy Fish and Tammy (Rusty) O'Brien; a son, Scott Lathery; grandchildren, Ashley (Cody) Rushton, Robby (Sarah) Varner, Jeremy Fish, Keaton Mueller, Daniel Johnson, Jason O'Brien and Matthew O'Brien; great grandchildren, Maddie and Alyssa Mack, Cassy and Bailey Owens; and many nieces and nephews.

Elsie was preceded in death by her parents; children, Michelle Varner, Danny Johnson and Jimmy Johnson; her siblings, Lola, John Powell, Lillian, Bob Powell, Henry Powell, Shelby Powell, Raymond Powell, Bill Powell, Elizabeth Glisson and Martha Monroe.

Visitation for Elsie will be held on Thursday, December 14, 2023 from 4:00 pm until 8:00 pm at Urban Winkler Funeral Home, 513 W. 8th Street, Connersville. The funeral service will be held on Friday, December 15, 2023 at 11:00 am at Community Gospel Church, 250 Erie, Connersville with Reverend Robert Lee officiating.   Burial will follow at Lick Creek Cemetery.
