Eudean Smith, 80 of Liberty passed away on Saturday, February 3, 2024. He was born on July 20, 1943 in Jackson County, Kentucky to Willis and Liza Lou Arvine smith. He was one of fourteen children.

He married the love of his life Lorene Belt on May 15, 1965. They shared almost 59 years together. They had 3 amazing children, Steve Smith, Diane Jones and Jennifer Gibbs. They lived in Lexington, Kentucky for a few years before moving to Indiana.

He worked at Kemper Cabinets, where he retired in 1995.

Eudean loved to raise a big garden in the summer, giving a lot away to family and friends. He always tried to stay busy, whether it was working with wood, hunting, or sitting down to enjoy watching University of Kentucky college basketball. He never met a stranger. Always there to lend a hand but was a little on the stubborn side when it was him that needed help. Young children were always drawn to him as he always had candy and was trying to make people laugh.

Along with his wife of 59 years, Lorene, he is survived by his daughters, Diane (Arlie) Jones and Jennifer (Shane) Gibbs; daughter in law, Brianne Smith; 7 grandchildren, Brad (Melanie) Jones, Lauren Michelle Jones, Karen (Mike) Wisman, Chelsea Gibbs, Andrew Gibbs, Megan (Levi) Hymer, Katelyn (Brandon) Gross; 10 great grandchildren including a special great grandson, Rowan Reese; 4 sisters, Sue Prince, Vada Jean Drew, Ann Salmon, Kay (John) Peters; 2 brothers, Everette (Ora) Smith and Kenneth (Wanda) Smith; sister in laws, Dorothy Smith and Geraldine Smith; brother in law, Harlos Wilson and several nieces, nephews and friends.

Eudean was preceded in death by his parents; his son, Steve Smith; his sisters, Avanelle Wilson and Fannie Smith; his brothers, Jack Smith, Willis Smith Jr., Odell Smith, Carl Smith and Herschel Smith.

Visitation for Eudean will be held on Thursday, February 8, 2024 from 4:00 pm until 8:00pm at Urban Winkler Liberty funeral home, 310 N. Main St., Liberty. The funeral service will be held on Friday, February 9, 2024 at 11:00 am at the funeral home with Lee Mays officiating. Burial will follow in Elkhorn Cemetery.
