Franklin B. "Frank" Collyer passed away on Friday August 8, 2025, with his wife by his side at the age 87. Frank was born on August 16, 1937, in Liberty, Indiana, the son of Bennett and Florence Haley Collyer.
He graduated from Short High School in 1956. He then went on to the International Barber College in Indianapolis where he received his barber license in 1957. After graduating from barber college, he started working with his dad at the Collyer Motel Barber shop. Later he moved with his father to the Collyer Barber Shop that was located at 8 E Union Street, in Liberty. The shop at 8 E. Union Street had been there since 1924. His grandpa Noah and his dad moved into the building at that time. Frank worked at the barber shop until he retired in 2018 at the age of 79 due to health reasons. He loved his work and enjoyed the time he spent with his customers.
On December 28, 1972. in Jellico, Tennessee, he was united in marriage to the former Mary Ann Isaac. They shared 52 years together prior to his death.
When Frank was younger, he was a car enthusiast. He enjoyed touring the homes in Cincinnati though the Home Show and had taken his family almost 25 times to Disney in Orlando, enjoying it just as much as the kids. When his children were younger you could find him cheering them on during their wrestling meets. His most valuable treasures were the time he spent with his family.
His love and memories will be cherished by his wife, Mary Ann; sons, Chad Collyer, Shawn (fiancé Ashley Davis) Collyer and Kevin Combs; a daughter, Beth Paul; grandchildren, Jackson and Maxwell Collyer and Joshua, Jesse and Haleigh Combs, as well as several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his brother, Fred Collyer; sisters, Mary Catherine Caskey and Dorothy Collyer; and his beloved dogs, Billy and Sugar.
Frank's family would like to thank his hospice caregivers, Amber, Paige and Melanie for the love and compassion they showed to him and his family.
Keeping with Frank's wishes, cremation was chosen. Private services will be held at the convenience of the family.
Urban Winkler Liberty Funeral Home is honored to assist the family with Frank's arrangements.
