Fred Irvin "Bud" Allen, of Connersville, passed away on Thursday November 21, 2024, at his home at the age of 83.  Bud was born at home in Laurel, Indiana on August 28, 1941, the son of Fred Albert and Dorothy Elizabeth Gaddis Allen.

He was united in marriage to the former Katha Herron on April 25, 1962.  Together they shared 61 years of love and companionship prior to her death. He served in the United States Army.  Bud was an active member of the American Legion Post #1, where he had served as Commander and Chief and called bingo for many years, a member of the AmVets, and Warren Lodge #15 F & AM.  He retired from Roots Blower after 40 plus years in 2002.

Bud and Katha loved to travel, taking many cruises and going to casinos.  He also enjoyed mushroom hunting, bowling, camping and spending his mornings having coffee with his brothers and friends at the Parkview Restaurant.  He loved spending time spoiling his grandchildren and family.

Bud's love will be cherished by his children, Debbie (David) Neukam of Seymour, IN, Angie (Joe) Fitzgerald of New  Castle, IN, and Eric (Shauna) Allen of Connersville; grandchildren, Kristina (Jimmy) Robertson, Shauna (Trevor) Jowers, Miranda (Jeromy) Grimm, Corina Gray, Eric (Brittney) Allen and Tiffani (Mikey Pierson) Berryman; 20 great grandchildren, 2 great-great grandchildren, as well as several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents and wife, he is preceded in death by his siblings, Rev. John Allen, Herschel Allen, Charles Allen, Nancy Lengle Ruth Nickel, and Nancy King; and a great grandson.

Funeral services will be held at Urban Winkler Funeral Home on Tuesday November 26, 2024, at 1:00 pm with Pastor Rob Judd officiating. Masonic Memorial Service will be held prior to the service.  Friends and family may gather at the funeral home from 11:00 am until the hour of the service.  Bud will be laid to rest next to his wife at Columbia Cemetery.
