Gerek Crabtree, 35 of Rushville passed away on August 13, 2024. He was born on July 24, 1989, in Connersville to Wayne Crabtree and Julia Sizemore Dawson.

Gerek was a 2008 graduate of Connersville Senior High School. At graduation he was awarded the top student of WTCC for Engineering. After high school, Gerek worked his way from being an operator to an engineer.

On May 6, 2015, he married Artisha Frasher in Connersville, together they had two daughters, Lexi and Macy.

Gerek worked recently at Ryobi Die Casting in Shelbyville, where he was the lead engineer on a global project. He worked diligently to become the lead engineer at Ryobi, he was very proud of his accomplishments in his career and so was his family.

Gerek was an avid hunter and fishermen. He enjoyed going on hunting, fishing trips and shooting bows with his girls and going on the draw hunts with his close friend, Jack. He found joy in teaching his girls how to properly shoot a gun. He took gun safety very seriously and would make sure to teach anyone who was willing to learn. He was one of the best instructors for his family. He had a great sense of humor and was often making his family laugh, whether that was around the campfire or when he was cooking on the grill. Overall, Gerek was a fierce protector of his family, he cared deeply for them. His family was his world, he loved spending quality time with Artisha and their girls.

Gerek is survived by his wife, Artisha; his daughters, Lexi and Macy Crabtree; a sister in law, Tessa (Brian) Sweney; niece and nephews, Bailey Lucas, Gage Seckman, Aiden Wylie and Landen Crabtree; a half sister, Melanie Crabtree; father in law, Matthew (Karen) Frasher; grandmother, Judy Crabtree; uncle and aunt, Mark and Amy Crabtree as well as many other aunts, uncles and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Julia; his brother, Logan Crabtree; grandfather, Condy Crabtree; great grandparents, Howard and Mary Crouch; and grandparents, Bob and Helen Sizemore.

Family and friends may visit from 5:00 pm until 7:00 pm on Monday, August 19, 2024 at Urban Winkler Funeral Home, 513 W. 8th St., Connersville. The funeral service will begin at 7:00 pm at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Artisha and their daughters.
