Gertrude Faye (Levi) Stanton, 93, of Connersville, passed away peacefully in her sleep at 10:45 p.m., Monday, June 6, 2022 at Caroleton Health in Connersville where she resided the last four years.

Born Feb. 10, 1929, she was the daughter of Emerson Levi and Mabel (Salyers) Ault. She was a 1949 graduate of Connersville High School. She was employed during her high school years as a telephone operator for General Telephone Co. She was later employed as a PBX operator (handling incoming and outgoing telephone calls) at American Kitchens.

On New Year's Eve 1953, she met Herbert H. Stanton at American Legion Post 1 in Connersville. On June 15, 1954, they were married in Cookeville, Tenn. By Mr. Stanton's uncle, Pastor Isom Rogers with his wife, Lola Rogers serving as witness.

Faye enjoyed sewing, flower gardening and spending time with her family.

Survivors include her husband, Herbert; son, Jeff (Charlotte) Stanton of Connersville; daughter, Julie (Sayed) Saleh of Hebron, Ky.; grandson, Anwar Saleh of Hebron, Ky.; granddaughter, Ryela Saleh of Fort Lauderdale, Fla.; nieces, Claudia Thomas of Fountain City and Ellen (Thomas) May of Kennewick, Wash.

She was preceded in death by her parents; sister Rebecca (Levi) Thomas; niece, Ann Thomas; maternal grandparents, Fremont and Rebecca (Callahan) Salyers; and paternal grandparents, Harry and Stella (Rose) Levi.

Funeral services will be at 10:00 am on Friday June 10, 2022, at Urban Winkler Funeral Home, 513 W. Eighth St., Connersville with Pastor Richard Ware Officiating. Burial will follow in Dale Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm on Thursday June 9, 2022 at the funeral home.
