Horace Manley Jr., 95 of Connersville passed away on Tuesday, September 29, 2026. He was born on October 7, 1930 in Fayette County to the late Horace Manley Sr. and Hazel Geary Manley.

On November 23, 1949, he married Barbara Jean Horner. They were blessed with 4 children, Malinda, Malessa, Richard and Rodney. They were able to spend 53 years together before she passed away on December 5, 2002.

Horace worked at D&M for 25 years before retiring in 1983. Following his retirement, he moved to Florida where he spent 12 years managing a car wash, before returning to Connersville.

For many years, he worked at Thompson-Brown Urban Funeral Home, one of his more memorable roles was driving the horse-drawn hearse.

He was happiest outdoors, woodworking and spending time with his horses. Him and his wife raised Appaloosa Horses for many years and took great pride in training them and attending many horse shows. He enjoyed teaching kids how to ride and become better horseman. Above all he was a devoted husband, loving father and grandfather.

He is survived by his sons, Richard (Sophia) Manley and Rodney Manley; 14 grandchildren and many great grandchildren.

Along with his parents and wife he was preceded in death by his daughters, Malessa Bowling and Malinda Dozier; his siblings, Robert Manley, Genevieve Bradburn, Madonna Rigor, and Dorothy Olson.

Friends and family may visit on Friday, October 2, 2026, from 12:00 pm until 2:00 pm at Urban Winkler Funeral Home, 513 W. 8th St., Connersville, Indiana 47331. The funeral service will begin at 2:00 pm at the funeral home with Pastor John Reynolds officiating. Burial will follow in Dale Cemetery.
