Hugh "Ernie" Bills, 68 of Connersville passed away on Friday, August 30, 2024. He was born on August 10, 1956 in Connersville to Bernard Bills and Mary Mason Gunnell Bills.

In 1997, he married Bobbie Jean Downs in Connersville at Community Gospel Church.

Ernie was a tree trimer most of his life in the surrounding communities.

Ernie found joy in donating monetary gifts to St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital. You could often find Ernie fishing. He enjoyed spending quality time with his family and friends.

Along with his wife, Bobbie he is survived by his son, Hugh Ernest Russell; a stepdaughter, Sarah Lacey Osborn and a stepson, Roman Lacey; 3 grandchildren, Brennon Russell, Ashton Russell and Blake Copley; his siblings, Sue Sparks, Linda Leach, Joe Wilson, Cindy Mangigian, Gary Bedwell and Jody Bergen; his best friends, Mike Townsend and Nicky Chasteen.

Ernie was preceded in death by his parents, his siblings, Billy Gunnell, Dolly Hudson, Ruby Powell, Charles Gunnell and Dale Gunnell; and a friend, Donnie Maze.

A private celebration of Ernie's life will be held at a later date.
