Janette Gay, 79, of Connersville, passed away on Tuesday, June 20, 2023 at IU Health Ball Memorial Hospital in Muncie Indiana. She was born on March 31, 1944, in Jackson County, Kentucky, and is the daughter of the late Raymond Cox and Ruth Sparks Cox.

On January 28, 1960, she married Franklin D. Gay in Connersville. They were able to enjoy 56 years together before he passed on October 11, 2016.

She worked in the manufacturing industry all her life, after decades of work she retired from D&M in the 2000's.

In her leisure time she enjoyed relaxing while working a crossword puzzle. Janette loved her garden of flowers, if she wasn't on the go she could be found tending to her yard. Most importantly Janette loved spending time with her family, specifically her grandchildren.

Janette is survived by her son Allen G. Gay and her bonus daughters Gail (Zack) Taylor, and Rose (Jon) Coleman. She will be missed by her siblings; a brother, Darryl (Beverly) Cox, and a sister, Pauline (Charles) Carroll. Her memories will be cherished forever by 9 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren.

Along with her parents and husband she was preceded in death by a sister Norma Jean Amis and brother-in-law Andy Amis Jr.

Visitation for Janette will be held on Monday, June 26, 2023 from 11:00 am until 1:00 pm at Urban Winkler Funeral Home, 513 W.8th Street, Connersville, Indiana 47331. The funeral service will follow at 1:00 pm. Burial will follow in Dale Cemetery.
