Jay Dean Hayes of Connersville passed away unexpectedly on Friday August 7, 2026, at the age of 58.  Jay was born on April 1, 1968, in Connersville, Indiana, the son of Dareld and Louise Hayes.

For over 25 years, he worked at Batesville Tool and Die.  Outside of work, you could find Jay enjoying the simple things in life.  He loved going hunting, relaxing while fishing, camping or traveling.  He was a fan of basketball and football and had a passion for rebuilding cars.

He is survived by his niece, Jennifer Hayes; children, Emma (Bill) Highlander, Deena (Mark) Burke, April Sparks, and Danny (Denise) Sparks; grandchildren, Brittany, Donnie, Darrien, Carlee, Kira, Caleb, Hayley, Dane, Corey, Will, Blake, Devon, Brayden, Austin, and Candice, as well as 16 great grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by a brother, David Hayes and his longtime companion and love of his life, Emily (Janie) Sparks.

Jay's family will conduct a memorial service at their convenience.
