Jerry Isador Bates, of Glenwood Indiana, passed away on Sunday December 15, 2024, at the age of 73. He was born on November 20, 1951, in Rushville, IN, the son of the late Walter Bates and Essie Royster Bates.

On April 1, 1972 in the hills of Paducah, Kentucky Jerry married the love of his life the former Jeanetta Carnes. Together they had two children.

Jerry was a Connersville High School graduate. He worked in the manufacturing industry until his health no longer allowed him to do so, he then began making instruments at his home. Jerry was an outdoorsman, and he loved fishing with his son. He enjoyed playing music with his friends. He also adored the time he spent with family especially his children and grandchildren. Jerry had a special relationship with his son Aaron and would call him a hero for getting him to the places he needed to be. Jerry will be deeply missed.

Along with this wife of 52 years Jeanetta, he is survived by his children; daughter, Ingrid Bates and son, Aaron Bates. He will be missed by his siblings; brothers, Jay Bates, Darryl Bates, sisters, Judy May and Linda Hobbs. His memories will be remembered forever by his grandchildren Justin Bates, Zachary Mroz, and Chase Baker.

Jerry is preceded in death by his parents, 3 infant siblings, a sister, Gladys Barlow, and a brother Garrett Bates.

Friends and family may gather on Friday December 20, 2024 from 11:00AM until 1:00PM at Urban Winkler Funeral Home located at 513 W 8th Street Connersville, IN 47331. A funeral service will begin at 1:00PM with burial following at Orange Cemetery.
