Kays
Nov 9, 1950 — Aug 5, 2026
Joyce Ann (Schwegman) Kays, born on November 9, 1950, passed away at home
on August 5, 2026. She was the beloved daughter of the late Orville and Marjorie
(Sturwold) Schwegman.
Joyce shared a beautiful life with her husband, Wm. Vallis "Bill" Kays. Together,
they built a loving family and would have celebrated their 49th wedding
anniversary on August 8, 2026.
She is survived by her loving husband, Wm. Vallis "Bill" Kays; her son, Brian
Kays; her daughter, Kimberly Corsaro; her son-in-law, Tony Corsaro; and her
three cherished grandchildren, AJ Corsaro, Brady Corsaro, and Gabriel Corsaro,
who were the light of her life. She is also survived by her sisters, Velda Clark,
Sharon Halcomb, Janice Suding, Barbie Apsley, and Laura Hodapp; her brother,
Vernon "Ernie" Schwegman; her brothers-in-law, Pat Clark, Dave Apsley, and
Darin Hodapp; and her sister-in-law, Phyllis Schwegman.
Joyce dedicated many years of service to DM Manufacturing before beginning a
career with the Franklin County Circuit Court, where she faithfully served until
her retirement in 2022.
She was known for her incredible talent in the kitchen, especially her baking.
Joyce found great happiness sharing that gift with her son, Brian, spending
countless hours cooking and baking alongside him at Brian's Bistro. Whether
preparing a favorite family recipe or creating something new, she showed her
love through the meals and treats she made for those around her.
Her greatest gift was making everyone feel welcome. Her home was a place
where family gathered, laughter was shared, and no one ever left hungry. She
found her greatest happiness simply being with the people she loved.
Joyce was preceded in death by her parents, Orville and Marjorie Schwegman;
her brothers-in-law, Wayne Halcomb and Tom Suding; her niece, Jenny Clark;
and her nephew, Josh Schwegman.
Joyce will be remembered for her warm heart, unwavering love for her family,
generous spirit, and the joy she found in caring for others. Her legacy lives on
through the family she loved so deeply and the countless memories they will
forever cherish.
In accordance with her final wishes, there will be no services or visitation. Joyce
will be laid to rest at Dale Cemetery, where her family will gather privately to
honor her memory.
