Obituary

Judith Ann Huber Rich, 81, formerly of Liberty, IN passed away peacefully in her home surrounded by loved ones on Tuesday, February 13, 2024. She was born October 22, 1942, in Richmond, Indiana, the daughter of the late Howard Huber and Sallie Chewning Huber.

Judy was a graduate of Short High School, the class of 1960. On December 23, 1960, Judy married the love of her life, Jimmy Lee Rich Sr. They were blessed with three children. Together they attended Liberty Church of Christ prior to moving to Florida.

She worked in the sales industry, particularly in retail. Judy worked for the local mall in Melbourne, FL, at a dress shop until she later retired. Judy had a love for flowers, something about their beauty and smell would captivate her. In Judy's younger years she had worked for her mother at a flower shop in Liberty.

A few of Judy's favorite things were relaxing by the pool, gardening in her yard, and listening to Elvis Presley. Judy took great pride in quilting and crocheting, in fact, she made Afghans for all of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She loved the beach and things associated with the beach such as collecting seashells and dolphin sightings. Judy treasured visiting her siblings in Indiana, and she adored having family around especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, after all there is nothing better than being with your family.

Judy is survived by her husband of 63 years, Jimmy Rich Sr.; her sons, Jimmie Lee (Connie) Rich Jr., Rusty Dean Rich, and Billy Joe (Barbara) Rich. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Jimmie Lee (Hannah) Rich III, Jennifer Elaine (Jose) Rich, Chad Wesley (Gabby) Rich, Summer Rene (Ben) Hill, Rachel Ann Rich, Faith Marie (Cassandra) Rich, Dimitre (Brianna) Pedrson, and Teresa Dale Rich. Her memories will live on in her great-grandchildren, Remington, Peyton, Ben, Adie, Audrey, Marley, and Sutton. Judy will be greatly missed by her brother, Donnie (Lyda) Huber, her fur baby Frosty, and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Along with her parents, Judy is preceded in death by a sister, Peggy Huber Carmack.

Mamaw Judy and Gigi loved her family so much she loved hard and with her whole heart during all times, both good or bad. She taught us wrong from right, to treat one another with respect, and the golden rule. But the most valuable lesson she taught us was, "Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, and it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always preserves. Love never fails." 1 Corinthians 13:4-8 May we keep her legacy alive and keep this verse deep in our hearts and minds for generations to come.

A graveside service will be held for Judy on Thursday February 22, 2024, at Westpoint Cemetery in Liberty, IN, beginning at 11:00AM.
