Katha June (Herron) Allen, age 79, of Connersville, passed away on August 3, 2023.  She was born on September 14, 1943, in Rush County, Indiana, the daughter of the late Gladstone Lawrence and Beatrice Helen Catlin Herron.

On April 25, 1962, she was united in marriage to Fred "Bud" Irvin Allen.  They enjoyed 61 years together prior to her passing.   She was a member of the Women's Auxiliary at the American Legion.  She had worked at Bill's Drive-in where she met her husband.  She also worked at Philco/Ford, Plaza Lanes and Sparkle Carwash.  Katha also was a Census taker.

She and Bud loved to travel, taking many cruises and going to casinos.  She loved to go fishing and mushroom hunting, bowling, making dolls, and was very proud of her flower gardens.  The thing she valued the most was the time spent with her family.

In addition to her husband, her memory will be cherished by their children, Debbie (David) Neukam of Seymour, IN, Angie (Joe) Fitzgerald of New Castle, IN and Eric (Shauna) Allen of Connersville.  She will be thought of often by her sisters, Brenda Fewell of Scottsburg, IN and Patty (Jeff) Schmalfeldt of Four Oaks, NC; grandchildren, Kristina (Jimmy) Robertson, Shauna (Trevor) Jowers, Miranda (Jeromy) Grimm, Corina Gray, Eric (Brittney) Allen and Tiffani Berryman; 18 great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild; as well as several nieces and nephews.

Besides her parents, she is preceded in death by her siblings, Dianna Herron and Don Herron and a great grandson.

Funeral services for Katha will be held at Urban Winkler Funeral Home on Tuesday, August 8, 2023 at 1:00 pm.  Friends and family may gather from 11:00 am until the hour of the service.  Burial will follow at Columbia Cemetery.
