Obituary

Kevin W. Ingall, age 59, of Vail, Arizona, went to rest in the arms of his savior Jesus Christ on May 10, 2022.  He was born on April 29, 1963, to Walt E. and Sondra (Mercer) Ingall at the University Hospital in Columbus, OH.

He married his best friend on June 20, 1987, and he is survived by his wife of 35 years, Judy Ingall to whom he was fiercely devoted.

Kevin is also survived by his daughters Sutherland (Andrew) Halladay of Las Vegas, NV and Alexandra J. Ingall of Fargo, ND; his mother Sondra (Mercer) Ingall; sisters Debra (Roger) Miller of Connersville, IN, Jennifer (Stuart) Jones of Palatine, IL and several nieces, nephews, great nieces/nephews.  He was preceded in death by his father, whom he adored, Walt E. Ingall, his nephew and friend Brian L. Miller, as well as his great nephew Landen Miller and great niece Lily Ann Miller.

Kevin was a 1981 graduate of Connersville High School, a 1986 graduate of Purdue University's Mechanical Engineering Technology program where he completed a Co-Op program with Borg Warner/Warner Gear of Muncie, IN, and a MBA graduate from Northern Illinois University in 1993.

In 1986, Kevin began his work experience with General Motors at the Milford, MI Proving Grounds in the Structural Life Development division.  In 1988 he made a pivotal change from the automotive industry to the heavy equipment industry by initiating a new career that would span 30 years at Caterpillar Inc. His tenure at Cat would see Kevin leaving his mark of excellency on several divisions including Engineering ( large wheel loaders), Marketing and Machine Sales including rep assignments in Texas and Tennessee, Compact Products where he was an integral part of the team that launched Cat skid steer loaders and other compact products into North America, and Building and Construction Products where he served as the Work Tools Commercial Manager followed by an assignment as Emerging Markets Manager in Shanghai, China. Upon repatriation, Kevin became the Worldwide Technical Manager for Paving products and finally the Machine and Machine Systems Portfolio Manager in the Research division.  This remarkable career truly took Kevin and his family around the world in 9 separate relocations where he developed friendships that have lasted a lifetime.

Kevin was a strategic and visionary leader who had a passion for developing cohesive teams and identifying, as well as mentoring, future leaders. He lived and breathed to give his all wherever he landed at Caterpillar and was famous for coming into a division, perceiving what could be improved and implementing it.

In his spare time, Kevin enjoyed all things mechanical.  He loved cars, boats, motorcycles, 4-wheelers, Formula 1 Grand Prix Racing and generally messing about in his garage.  One of the highlights of his retirement was overseeing the complete restoration of his beloved father's 1926 Ford Model T.  He enjoyed watching his daughters compete in swimming and diving and was proud of their many successes in and out of school.  Kevin also enjoyed watching movies…repeatedly, to the chagrin of his family, who secretly enjoyed his ability to regurgitate quotes from various Monty Python movies and others.  He also enjoyed comedies and standup comedians, believing that laughter was much better than sadness. His smile and jovial personality which captivated audiences with storytelling will be sorely missed by all.

Friends can visit the family on Thursday, May 19, 2022, from 5:00-7:00 PM at Urban Winkler Funeral Home, 513 W 8th Street, Connersville, IN.  Funeral services will be on Friday, May 20, 2022 at 11:00 AM at the funeral home.  Donations can be made in Kevin's memory to Christ Community Church's Missions or Christ Community Church's Care .
