Leonard L. Beard, age 74, of Liberty, passed away unexpectedly at his home on Monday, March 10, 2025.  He was born in, Eaton, Ohio, on July 16, 1950, the son of the late Leonard Doyle and Marjorie Faye Beard.  After his high school graduation, Leonard enlisted in the United States Army were he served his country in active duty. He was united in marriage on April 2, 1983 at the Liberty Church of the Nazarene to the former Karen Stanton. They enjoyed 40 years together prior to her passing in August of 2023.

He was a member of the St. Andrew's Catholic Church in Richmond, the American Legion and VFW in Liberty Indiana. Leonard worked for many years at Belden located in Richmond, he was also a floor salesman at Wellings Toyota.

Leonard enjoyed the outdoors, he especially loved the time he spent golfing. He had a special place in his heart for animals but no one was as special as his dog Millie. Any time that Leonard spent with his family was treasured, above all was the time he spent with his grandchildren.

Leonard is survived by his daughters, Amy Witte and Shannon Tracy and his sons, Bill (Peggy) Curry and Seth (Kristi) Curry.  He will be thought of often by his grandchildren, Kaitlyn and Cole Tracy, Luke and Parker Curry, Brycen and Brooklyn Curry, Zada Valentine, Ozzy and Hazel Witte and Bryce Worden; and a sister, Sue Johnson.

Besides his parents, and wife Karen, he is preceded in death by a daughter, Kristin Worden; sisters, Jean Turner and Joann Mowry.

Funeral services conducted by Pastor Jeff Adams will be held on Monday March 17, 2025 at Urban Winkler Liberty Funeral Home , 310 North Main, at 12:00 pm where friends and family may gather from 11:00 am until the hour of the service.  Burial will follow at Richland Cemetery.
