Leonard Smith, 86 of Pershing passed away on Saturday, April 20, 2024. He was born on July 4, 1937, in Mt. Vernon, Kentucky to Keller Smith and Bertha Hensley Smith.

He served in the United States Army for 4 years.

Leonard married Joyce Angel in Tennessee, together they were members of the Galilean Baptist Church in Centerville.

Leonard worked at M.E.G. in Cambridge City before retiring. He was a member of the Brookville Bass Club for many years.

You could often find Leonard fishing at the lake. He enjoyed attending many garage sales and flea markets to try and find a great deal, or something he could fix up, just keep around or sell. Leonard found joy in rigging things up to be able to be used again. He followed the rule that "one mans trash is another man's treasure."

Along with his wife, Joyce, he is survived by his children, Diane (Jim) Lakes, Sandy Parks, Randy (Jodi) Smith, Randy (Michelle) Gray and Ricky (Jayne) Gray; 8 grandchildren, Dustin (Sara) Marshall, Jeremy Parks, Kassy (Cole) Smith Brookelyn Smith, Jared Gray, Jacob Gray, Josh Gray, and Jason Gray,; many great grandchildren; his brothers, Steve (Becky) Smith, Ronnie (Kathy) Smith; sisters, Revena (John) Cooksey and Glenna Doulin.

Leonard was preceded in death by his parents; his siblings, William "Billy Joe" Smith, Micky Smith, Delbert Smith, Jimmy Smith, John Smith, Ruby Morgan, and Ella 'Ellie' Belt; and several nieces and nephews.

Visitation for Leonard will be held on Thursday, April 25, 2024 from 5:00 pm until 8:00 pm at Urban Winkler Funeral Home, 513 W. 8th St., Connersville. The funeral service will be held on Friday, April 26, 2024 at 11:00 am at Galilean Baptist Church in Centerville. Burial will follow in Zion Lutheran Cemetery in Pershing.
