Mary Ann Brattain, age 89, passed away on August 7, 2023, at Creasy Springs Health Campus in Lafayette, IN. She was born on September 14, 1933, in Connersville, the daughter of the late Earl Gatlin and Ethel Utter Gatlin Kelly.

She graduated from Connersville High School in 1951. Mary Ann was blessed to be married to 2 wonderful husbands. She was united in marriage on April 20, 1951, to Lawrence Pflum. They enjoyed 19 years together prior to his passing in 1970. She then was united in marriage on June 17, 1972, to Paul Brattain and they enjoyed 26 years together prior to his death in 1999.

Mary Ann was a member of the Central Christian Church where she was very active in the Young at Heart Group and other activities. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother that enjoyed traveling, meeting up with her classmates from high school, and playing Sequence with friends. Mary Ann also enjoyed spending time with her church family, but her most valued treasure was the time she spent with her family.

Those she has left behind to cherish her love and memory include a daughter, Kathleen (Mike) Fox; and her son, Keith (Pam) Pflum. She will be thought of often by her stepdaughter, Vicki (Erik) Kim; 11 grandchildren; many great grandchildren; as well as her nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents and husbands, she is preceded in death by brothers Roy Gatlin and Earl Andy Gatlin; stepfather, Harold Kelly; stepmother, Gertrude Gatlin; and stepdaughter, Linda Kunkel.

Funeral services for Mary Ann will be conducted at 12:30 pm on Friday, August 11, 2023, at Urban Winkler Funeral Home, 513 W 8th Street. Friends and family may gather at the funeral home from 10:30 until the hour of the service. Burial will follow at Valley Grove Cemetery.
