Obituary

Mary Alice Geise, 97 of Connersville passed away on Friday, April 11, 2025. She was born on July 10, 1927 in Connersville to Thomas Fitzgerald and Mazie Marie Payton Fitzgerald.
She married the love of her life Delbert Geise on January 17, 1947, in Connersville, they were blessed with three children. They often held hands each day wherever they went. We can find joy in that they are again holding hands for eternity.  They were able to spend 61 years together before he passed away on November 27, 2008.
Mary Alice was a faithful member of Eastside United Methodist Church for many years. She enjoyed cooking and serving at the church tent during the Fayette County Free Fair every year where many laughs were shared.
Mary Alice loved all her friends at Heritage House, especially Miss Janet who always told her she was beautiful. Of course, her roommate Mrs. Shirley Nobbe who was her partner in crime.  She also enjoyed all the craft classes with Sylver Cox and her friends there, especially the painting class with Ms. Linda.
Mary Alice was an exceptional baker and cook. She would often reserve the first cookie off the baking sheet for only the best grandchild that was awaiting the splendid treat. You could never leave Holly Street without being full of being served a meal or dessert from Mary Alice.  She prided herself on being an amazing mother, a loving wife and an exceptional grandmother. She always had a way of making someone smile and feel special.  She loved to sew. She made many beautiful clothes and amazing quilts. Most importantly she cherished her children, as she would say they were her gifts from God.
Mary Alice is survived by her daughter, Melissa (Jerry) Giberson; her sons, Denny (Judy) Geise, David Geise and bonus son, Doug Garriott; grandchildren, Christopher Geise, Joshua Geise, Chelsea Geise and Mazie Giberson, Alan Volz and Audra Volz; great grandchildren, Kaylee Geise, Dylan Geise, Payden Geise, Kaylin Geise, Jaxston Geise and Taylor Geise; special niece, Sherry Christensen, who was always there for Mary Alice; she kept her supplied with craft supplies, sparkly tops and yummy treats; especially butterscotch milkshakes.
Mary Alice was preceded in death by her parents, Thomas and Mazie Fitzgerald, her loving husband, Delbert and her loving brother, Alan Fitzgerald.
The family would like to thank everyone at the Heritage House for their moms care over the past 8 years, the Nobbe/Grubb's family, Reverend Malcolm Green, Reverend Ellis McQueen, the Geise/Fitzgerald families and everyone who loved their mom.
