Mildred Jean Vail, age 99, of Connersville, passed away on Friday September 23, 2022, at Majestic Care of Connersville.  Jean was born on February 7, 1923, in Connersville, the daughter of the late Walter and Edith Martin Peterson.

Jean was united in marriage on February 21, 1942, in Andersonville to William Vail.  They shared 78 years together before his passing in 2020.

She was a 70-year member of the Central Christian Church.  She also was a 4-H Leader for the Harrison Peppy Peppers for 5 years and a member of the Extension of Home Makers for 70 years.  She had entered her paintings, sewing projects and porcelain doll in the Fayette County Free Fair for several years and was an avid bowler for more than 45 years.

Jean was a loving wife, mother and grandmother that treasured the time she spent with her family. She graduated from Connersville High School in 1941 and after graduation went on to work at Newberry's.  She also was a secretary for Max Walters at McQuay Norris and Frank Kennedy at Philco.

Those that she has left behind to cherish her love and memories include her children, Janice (Jack) Jackson, Joy (Neil) Davis and Ron Vail.  Jean will be thought of often by her grandchildren, Shawn Jackson, Brooke Jackson, Theresa Hacker, Jenny Handley, Holly Dobb, Jeremy (Michelle) Davis, Stephanie (Adil) Chtata and Tony Davis; as well as twelve great grandchildren.

Besides her parents and husband, she is preceded in death by a son, Gary Vail; brother Dale Peterson; and sisters, Blanche Baker and Maxine Seider.

Graveside services for Jean will be conducted at Dale Cemetery, 801 Gregg Road, Connersville, on Monday September 26, 2022, at 11:00 am with Chaplain Rick Alvey officiating.

A Celebration of Life for Jean and William will be held at a later date.
