Patricia Jo Tanksley passed away peacefully with her family by her side on Saturday March 8, 2025 at the age of 87.  She was born on July 14, 1937, in Connersville, IN, the daughter of Harold Sturgeon and Hazel Thompson Sturgeon Burgess.

Patricia was united in marriage on December 23, 1956, to Leroy Tanksley.  They shared almost 57 years of marriage prior to his death in 2013.

Patricia was a very active person.  You could find her working in her acres of gardens, baking, or canning.  She loved being outdoors. Pat was known for having the best produce around.  People would come from all around to purchase Pat's produce.  They would call or stop by her home to see if the wide variety of vegetables were ready.  She sold her produce at the Fayette County Farmers Market for over 40 years.  Patricia was proud of her produce and flowers, having won Champion several times at the State Fair.

Though her hands were calloused from years of hard work, her heart remained tender and full of warmth for those she loved. Her love and memories will be cherished by her daughters, Kathy (Raymond Barrows) Younts and Connie (Randy) Lay; grandchildren, Chad Younts, Krista Tanksley, Shannon Wood, Shawn Tanksley, Amanda Younts, Sgt. Christopher Tanksley and James Lay; great grandchildren, Zackery, Seth, Mekenzie, Garrett, Ciearra, Blake, Tyler, Paul, Eli and Mason and a great-great grandson, Declan; and a brother, Richard Sturgeon.

In addition to her parents and husband, she is preceded in death by her son, Rick Tanksley; a brother Harold Sturgeon; sisters, Sandy Peterson and Charlene Sparks and a son-in-law, Paul Younts, whom she thought of as a son.

Funeral services will be held at Urban Winkler Funeral Home on Thursday, March 13, 2025, at 1:00 PM.  Friends and family may gather at the funeral home from 11:00 am until the time of the service.  Patricial will be laid to rest at Orange North Cemetery.
