Richard A. Blaes, age 65, of Connersville, Indiana passed away unexpectedly yet peacefully on July 6, 2026.

He is survived by his sister, Toni Blaes Carlos—who cherished him beyond measure and carries deep gratitude for his unwavering love and support—along with her husband, Chris, their daughter, Megan, and his brother, Frank Blaes. Richard was preceded in death by his parents, Jules F. Blaes, Jr. and Rita Shannon; his brother, David Blaes; and his beloved grandmother, Lucy Marie Stevens.

Richard's generosity knew no bounds. He was honest, funny, and resilient. A proud member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie #1065 in Connersville, Indiana, he deeply valued the camaraderie, purpose, and friendship he found within that community.

His work ethic was matched only by the loyalty he showed to the people in his life. Richard was blessed with dear friends and coworkers whom he absolutely treasured, and he approached every day with sincerity, humor, and purpose. His cherished "fur babies," Puppy and PJ, brought him immeasurable joy, comfort, and companionship. He was a devoted supporter of animal rescue.

Even while facing significant health challenges, he showed up, cared deeply, and gave his very best. That authenticity made him unforgettable. Though his earthly journey has ended, Richard's spirit remains woven into the hearts of those who loved him. His memory will continue to inspire kindness, laughter, and resilience in all who were fortunate enough to know him.

A Celebration of Life honoring Richard will be held at Urban Winkler Funeral Home located at 513 W 8th Street Connersville, Indiana on Monday July 20, 2026 beginning at 10:00 AM until 12:00 PM. The family would like to invite friends and colleagues to share their favorite memory of Richard beginning at 11:00 AM.
