Richard Lee Pitcher, of Connersville, went home to be with his Lord on December 31, 2023, at Reid Health in Richmond at the age of 87.  Richard was born on December 15, 1936, in Connersville, the son of the late Parker D. and Garnet Burton Pitcher.

On June 1, 1956, at the Grand Ave United Methodist Church, he was united in marriage to Martha Geneva Durham.  They enjoyed 67 years of marriage.  Richard was reunited with Geneva just 1 day following his passing on January 1, 2024.

He retired from WCI and its predecessor in 1987 after 24 years of service.  Richard was a devoted Christian and a longtime member of Connersville Baptist Temple. During his younger years, he and Geneva enjoyed traveling and fishing.   In his leisure time he enjoyed hunting, fishing, playing Yahtzee or Euchre, doing yard work, and playing his guitar.  He loved music. Most mornings you could find him having breakfast at the Parkview Restaurant with his buddies.   Richard and Geneva loved going to the Liberty Bell Restaurant in the evenings and then on to Whitewater Memorial State Park to enjoy the view and watch for eagles.  He lived a simple life, and his most valued treasure was the time he spent with his family and friends.

Those he has left behind to love and cherish his memory are his many nieces and nephews and extended family.

In addition to his parents and wife, he is preceded in death by his son, Timothy Lee Pitcher; brothers Robert W. Pitcher and Raymond D. Pitcher; half-brother, Clinton Amyx; and sister Marjorie Noble.

Services for Richard will be held on Saturday, January 6, 2024, at Urban Winkler Funeral Home, Connersville, alongside his wife, Geneva, who passed away on January 1, 2024. The funeral service conducted by Reverend Vincent Wright will be held at 1:00pm.  Visitation will be held from 11:00am until the time of the service at the funeral home. Graveside services will follow in Dale Cemetery, Connersville.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Connersville Baptist Temple.
