Robert "Lucky Bob" Tompkins, 73, of Liberty, passed away on December 16, 2024. Bob was born on January 22, 1951, and is one of six children to the late Albert and Cleo (Crowder) Tompkins. Bob grew up in Liberty, IN graduating with the Union County High School class of 1969. On September 28, 1987, he married the love of his life, Linda (Hedrick) Tompkins.

Upon graduating high school, Bob served his country in the U.S. Marines for 4 years as a tank driver. He then went on to the Army for an additional 13 years in artillery and infantry where he achieved the rank of Staff Sergeant. After 17 years of military service, Bob went to work for Visteon in Connersville until their closing. Bob then went to the Wisconsin school for truck driving. He returned to Liberty where he drove for various places including Coffman farms.

Bob loved being outdoors. Whether it was riding his Harley Davidson or watching the Ospreys behind his home, it was common to find him sitting next the campfire telling stories. Bob's passion was playing poker. He traveled all around the area playing in various clubs.

Bob will be greatly missed by his wife, Linda; son, Josh (Athena) Merz; 7 grandchildren, James Tompkins, Cody Dawson, Tessa Voiles, Riley Merz, Braxton Carpenter, Cheyenne Isaacs and Hayden Griffee; 13 great grandchildren; brothers, Kenny Crowder, Ronnie Tompkins and Steve Tompkins; sisters, Debbie Matthews and Ann Schenker; as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

In addition to his parents, Bob is preceded in death by a daughter, Tyra Voiles; two sons, Robert Tompkins Jr. and James Isaacs; and a granddaughter, Tylissa Isaacs.

Visitation for Bob will be held on Friday, December 27, 2024 from 4:00pm until 6:00pm at Urban Winkler Liberty Funeral Home, 310 N. Main St. Liberty, IN 47353.
