Obituary

Stephan D. Godsey Sr., 71 of Connersville passed away on Friday, August 11, 2023 in Indianapolis Indiana. He was born on August 29, 1951 to the late Ben and Phyllis Hahn Godsey in Connersville, Indiana.

Steve graduated from Connersville High School the class of 1970. Upon graduating Steve went to work at Moe Chevrolet which later became Scripture Chevrolet. He worked as an automotive mechanic from 1969 to 1996. Steve became tiresome of turning wrenches, so he began his own lawn care and snow removal business. He was later employed by Centerstone Red Oak, retiring in 2016.

On October 1, 2006 Steve married Genia Good Godsey in Connersville at their family farm that they enjoyed together for 16 years.

Steve was an animal lover, in fact Steve and Genia began a farm animal rescue. They had horses, sheep, cows, goats, chickens, dogs, and cats; you name it and they tended to that animal at some time or another.

Steve was an outdoorsman. He loved 4-wheeling, hiking, and camping. Steve was known for his love for camo, he liked it so much he painted his truck camo. Throughout the years Steve was involved in 4-H with poultry and rabbits as a leader working with his children. He was a very patriotic person. Steve was the type of man that would speak his mind.

He will be greatly missed by his beloved wife, Genia, his children; Catherine (Scott) Bingham, Stephan (Abby) Godsey, Christopher (Jamie) Godsey, and Joshua Godsey; his bonus children, Ben (Jessica) Homan, Josh (Heather) Homan, and David (Catherine) Homan. He is survived by his siblings; brother, John Godsey, and step sisters Debbie (Jerry) Glass, Jayma Smith, Carol Parvis; and his loving dog Kevin.

He is survived by his grandsons Hunter and Luke Godsey. Also, his bonus grandchildren, Mason and Cooper Taylor, Colton, Keira, and Carly Bingham, and Zachary, Emma, Jace, and Micah Homan.

Steve was preceded in death by his parents, step-mother Mary Alice, step-sister, Ginny Silvers; and his beloved dog Curley.
