Harold Wayne Thomas passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday July 28, 2026, at the age of 76.  The only child of Verner and Jessie Hammond Thomas, he was born on March 7, 1950, in Connersville, IN.

Wayne was united in marriage on June 18, 2005, in Metamora, IN to Cathy Siedling.  They shared 21 years of marriage prior to his death.

He was a member of the Rushville Baptist Temple.  He is a longtime member of the Eagles F.O.E. #1129 in Brookville, IN.  Wayne retired after 29 years of service from the Fayette County Highway Department where he was a heavy equipment operator.

Outside of work, Wayne found joy in the simple things.  He enjoyed being outdoors, whether it be cutting firewood, going 4-wheeling, riding around in his side by side, or driving his tractor.  When springtime rolled around, he would gather up the sacks, and you could find him in woods hunting for mushrooms.   Although he enjoyed many things in life, nothing meant more to him than his wife, family and friends.

His love and memories will be cherished by his wife, Cathy; special nieces and nephews, Megan (Jonathan) Redd, Joshua (Leah) Siedling, Garrison Siedling, Isaac Siedling and Ross Siedling; great nephew, Sam Redd; great niece, Eloise Siedling, as well as the men he thought of as his sons, Charles "Chuck" (Marci) Logan, Brad (Lisa) Day and Ryan (Jenifer) Logan, their children, Layne (Avery) Baldwin, Dylan Logan, Bo Day, Luke Logan, Elizabeth Logan and Jacob Snyder; and brothers-in-law, Rob (Patty) Siedling and Matt (Chelsea) Siedling.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by an honorary granddaughter, Caitlyn Logan.

Though his hands were calloused from years of labor, his heart remained tender and full of warmth for those he loved.

Funeral services will be conducted at Urban Winkler Funeral Home, 513 W 8th Street, Connersville, on Monday August 3, 2026, at 2:00 pm.  Family and friends may gather from 11:00 am until the time of the service at the funeral home.  Wayne will be laid to rest at Laurel North Cemetery.
